Superfood you can add to your Smoothies for weight loss!

Smoothies can easily become part of one’s diet and are a quick breakfast fix for people who are usually pressed for time in the morning. It turns out to be a perfect recharge drink for your post-workout meals and is preferred by many to lose weight. And, I can assure you that you will not get bored with having a smoothie every day as it can be easily modified according to your mood.

So first and foremost What are smoothies?

Smoothies are thick, creamy beverages usually made from freshly puréed fruits and vegetables with some juices, protein and oat powders, yoghurt as well as some healthy nuts, seeds, and dairy or nondairy milk. And with the summer kicking in, you can add some frozen fruits or ice cubes for a cool and refreshing smoothie. Just be sure to maintain its consistency, not too liquidy and not to thick.

Can Smoothies help in providing you with the health benefits?

  • An excellent source to boost your fibre intake. Fibre helps in supporting the growth of good bacteria in your digestive tract which aids in better digestion.
  • Prepared from fresh fruits and vegetables may help increase the intake of fruits and vegetables. This will help in consuming a diverse array of vital minerals, vitamins and antioxidants.
  • Nutrient-rich smoothies will improve digestion as well as will lower your risk of chronic conditions like heart disease, osteoporosis and obesity.
  • Can help you in shedding off a few pounds by keeping the hunger level in check.

A Note: Though smoothie fits your diet plan for weight loss very well. Do remember that it will be only beneficial if you do it right. Completely depending on a perfect bowl of smoothie won’t work its wonders. Along with it, you also have to take care of having a night of proper sleep and a workout plan.

Now, coming back… Apart from adding your favourite nutritious fruits, you can also add some of the following fat-burning foods to attain quick weight loss:

  • Blueberries – powerful fat burners, full of antioxidants and activates genes that burn fat
  • Strawberries – contains polyphenols that stop the formation of fat in the body
  • Coconut oil – a designated superfood that helps in losing the belly fat
  • Cinnamon – a flavoured spice, relieves bloating and helps in reducing the weight
  • Chia Seeds – preventing cravings and binge-eating
  • Flaxseeds – a great source of soluble mucilaginous (gumlike) fibre, which lowers the bad cholesterol in the blood
  • Oat Powder – make the smoothie more filling and the fibres in it keep you full for a longer time
  • Ginger – boosts your metabolism and also balance blood sugar levels

You all know now how smoothies can be help you and what all you can add more to make it more beneficial. So, its time to share some easy and lip-smacking smoothies with you all. However, there are many types of smoothies and you can always modify them according to your taste preference. I will be sharing a few recipes of fruit smoothies as it is loved by everyone including small kids.

Choose your favourite smoothie!

Yellow Wonder:

  • Frozen Banana – 1 cup
  • Frozen Mango – 1 cup
  • Chia Seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Millk – 1/2 cup (optional)

Chia-Berry Blaster:

  • Plain unsweetened Greek yoghurt – 1 cup
  • Frozen berries (blueberries or strawberries) – 1 cup
  • Chia seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Cinnamon powder – 1 tbsp

Peanut Butter:

  • Frozen Banana – 1 cup
  • Peanut Butter – 1 tsp
  • Chocolate Powder – tsp
  • Oat Powder – 1-2 tsp
  • Ice – optional

Tropical Delight:

  • Frozen mango chunks – 1 cup
  • Frozen pineapple chunks – 1 cup
  • Banana – 1 cup
  • Frozen Peaches chunks – 1 cup
  • Unsweetened coconut water – optional

The above recipes are very basic. As said earlier, you can play around with your favourite fruits and nuts to make a nutritious smoothie. You can keep one fruit constant in all your smoothies, for example, a banana. And it will always be better to sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon on to it. You can also add muesli or granola or pumpkin seeds on top of your smoothie to enjoy a little crunchiness. Just remember to maintain a smooth and thick consistency.
