Your Feet Need Your Attention And Care Too…

Helping us in going places, and seeing the world, one step at a time, our feet play an important yet thankless role in our lives. But still, we hardly care for our feet. And it is only later that we see the consequences of our negligence towards our feet.

And to avoid this, let us see some tips to take care of your feet…

Ways to take care of your feet

Keep your feet clean and dry:

Wash and clean your feet often. You can also use a foot scrubber or a pumice stone to clear out the thick dead cells. You can also soak your feet in warm and soapy water to clean them thoroughly. Do not air dry them, instead use a towel to dry them, especially between the toes. This will help prevent bacterial and fungal infections that are common foot problems.

Exercise your feet:

Stretching exercises can improve flexibility and making it stronger. There are many simple exercises that you can easily find online. For example: Sit on a chair with your feet resting on the floor. Lift your one leg and rotate the foot in both clockwise and anticlockwise directions 15-20 times. Repeat the same with your other foot.

Wear well-fitted shoes:

The kind of shoes that you wear can have a huge impact on your feet. You may experience pain if your shoes are too high, too tight, too hard, or too loose. Wear shoes that provide a cushion to your foot, feel comfortable, and fit conveniently. Avoid buying tight shoes, hoping they will loosen over time.

Maintain a healthy weight:

Those extra kilos add extra pressure on your feet, increasing your risk of arthritis, and foot pain. Being overweight can also strain your feet, leading to discomfort while walking, or even standing.

Keep an eye on blood sugar levels:

If you are diabetic, the blood flow in your feet might get compromised. Also, it can cause loss of sensation which in turn can lead to other foot problems.

Footwear swaps for women:

Short heels over Stilettos:

Stilettos cause pain by altering your feet’s natural position and exerting pressure on the internal foot structures. Limit the use of any footwear that has a heel higher than 2 inches. Wearing shorter or wedge heels with rubber soles and comfortable toe boxes can reduce the pressure.

Supportive flip flops over Flat flip flops:

Usually, flip flops fail to support your feet, increasing the risk of falling, However, people with knee osteoarthritis may find flip flops comfortable. Replace these flip-flops with cushiony ones, fit snuggly, and provide arch support.

Flatter platform heels over crooked ones:

If you like wearing platform heels, then it’s best to pick those with flat bottoms. Wearing platform heels with higher heels and lower toe areas can exert pressure on your feet. So, look for those with a flat base.

Follow these simple tips and take care of your feet because they can take you places…. 😉

Just like how skincare is important, it is also very important to take care of your feet. You don’t even have to do a lot. Just focus on properly cleaning, drying, and buying the right footwear.
